Applications
EC can serve as a solvent component in lithium-battery and capacitor electrolytes, a plastic foaming agent, a stabilizer for synthetic lubricants, and a solvent for polyacrylonitrile and polyvinyl chloride. In organic synthesis, it can be used as an intermediate, a hydroxyethylating agent and a chemical raw material. Other listed applications include water-glass-based slurries and fiber finishing agents.
