Applications
DEC can serve as a solvent component in lithium-battery and capacitor electrolytes and as a solvent for nitrocellulose, cellulose ethers, synthetic resins and natural resins. In organic synthesis, it can be used as a carbonylating reagent to synthesize ketones, tertiary alcohols and heterocyclic compounds.
